Austria with kids
Imperial palaces with a zoo in the grounds, a lake village out of a storybook, and mountains reachable by cable car from the middle of a city.
Where to base yourself Pick one, or pick two and split the days between them. Each card says roughly how long it is worth and how many things there are to do.
13 hrs · flight with one stop Vienna Ages 5-12 · 5D4N · 25 things to do
A palace with the world's oldest zoo in its grounds, a giant ferris wheel from 1897, and more museums per square kilometre than anywhere else on this site.
Schönbrunn Prater wheel Museums
The Schönbrunn palace ticket and the zoo ticket are separate, and people arrive expecting one to cover both. Concert touts in period costume around the old town sell dear tickets to thin performances — book a named venue instead.
Add Vienna 2.5 hrs · train from Vienna Salzburg and the Alps Ages 5-12 · 5D4N · 10 things to do
A baroque city under a fortress, the Sound of Music filming locations, the lake villages of the Salzkammergut, and Innsbruck's cable car to an alpine zoo.
Hohensalzburg Hallstatt Alpine zoo
Hallstatt is very small, very crowded and now caps daily numbers — go at opening or not at all. Berchtesgaden and the Eagle's Nest are over the border in Germany, and the Eagle's Nest road closes with snow from October.
Add Salzburg and the Alps When to go. May to September for green mountains and long evenings; December for the Christmas markets, which are the best in Europe. January and February are ski season and everything else is quiet.
Choose where you are staying, then pick from what is reachable from there and the app builds a day-by-day plan around it.

Book on Klook Austria — good to know Detail Entry No visa for Singapore passport holders for short stays. ETIAS is coming. Time Six or seven hours behind Singapore depending on the season. Money Euro. Cards are widely taken, but Austria is more cash-minded than its neighbours — carry some. Getting around Trains are good and Vienna's transport is excellent and cheap. Under-sixes travel free on Vienna's network and six to fifteen free on Sundays and holidays. Coffee houses Sitting for two hours over one coffee is the point, not rudeness, and children are welcome. The best rainy-afternoon institution in Europe. Christmas markets Late November to 24 December, and they close on Christmas Eve itself. Book accommodation early — Vienna and Salzburg fill. Hallstatt The lake village everyone photographs now caps visitor numbers and locals are visibly tired of it. Go early, go quietly, and consider Sankt Wolfgang instead. Water Vienna's tap water comes from alpine springs by pipeline and is excellent.
