The Little Hours

France with kids

Disneyland Paris, a science museum built for children, castles in every direction and a food culture that takes children seriously — with fast trains between all of it.

Disneyland and Parc Astérix on the outskirts, the best children's science museum in Europe in the north of the city, and castles, Monet's garden and Mont Saint-Michel as day trips.

Under-18s are free at the national museums but still need a booked ticket, and the Louvre and Versailles both require a timed slot that sells out. Book those before you fly.

A pebble beach, a warm sea, and Monaco, Eze and the Verdon gorge within an easy drive along the coast.

BeachesMonacoVerdon Gorge

The beaches here are pebbles, not sand — swim shoes make a real difference with children. July and August are extremely busy and the coast road slows to a crawl.

Provence

Ages 6-12 · 5D4N · 10 things to do

Roman arenas still standing, an aqueduct you can walk across, a prison island out of a novel, and hill villages between them.

Pont du GardRoman arenasHill villages

This is a driving region — the villages are not on rail lines. Summer heat regularly passes 35°C and the Roman sites have almost no shade.

Add Provence

When to go. April to June and September for warmth without August crowds. Much of France closes down in August when the French themselves go on holiday. Christmas markets run late November to December.

Choose where you are staying, then pick from what is reachable from there and the app builds a day-by-day plan around it.
