When to go. The south and west are driest December to March. The east coast runs on the opposite monsoon, May to September.

Kandy and the hill country

Pick your own at 1,900 metres, then eat them with cream in the cold. Completely unlike the rest of the country, which is the appeal.
South coast
4 hrs flight + 2 hrs road · Ages 4-12 · 5D4N · 8 things to do. A Dutch fort you can walk the walls of, turtle hatcheries, and reef-protected bays at Unawatuna and Mirissa.
A flat, walkable circuit of ramparts with boys jumping into the sea off them. The easiest hour of the trip.
